How can I tell if I have gum disease?
The best way to learn if you have gum disease is to see your dentist regularly. Especially in its earliest stages, gum disease causes few if any symptoms and many men and women don’t know they have periodontal disease until the disease is in advanced stages. Some of the symptoms of gum disease include:
- gums that bleed easily, especially during brushing
- gums that are red or swollen
- gums that are tender
- pain in a gum surrounding a tooth when biting or chewing
- receding gums
- teeth that are loose
- chronic bad breath
